These Shoes are Made for Walking

Okay. So I have some of Jamie's stuff. They still smell like him and are very precious to me. I have not wanted to mess them up or to wear them or for anyone else to wear them either. I want to keep them as they are. Jamie's. So you can imagine the meltdown and impending WWIII that almost took place when someone decided to wear some of the belongings, a pair of shoes, in fact. I was not and still am not ready for that. But Jamie's mother got wind of the impending war over this and told me the reason why all of the family has some of his belongings. She wants us to wear his things, to remember Jamie, and to pray. She told me that she would have never given them to me if she thought that I would react this way and that it would cause problems. She pointed out to me how everyone is wearing something of his now. I still plan to keep at least 1 item of his untouched. I'm still amazed at his mother's strength right now and a little embarrassed that she had to step in and diffuse the war. And even though I do not really agree, I will respect her wishes that those shoes were made for walking.
