Today a friend who is near and dear to my heart told me that she and her husband were expecting their first child. I cannot explain it, but I am absolutely overjoyed for her and felt such happiness when she told me. She has loved and supported me through the college years, my marriage, me becoming a mother, etc. She also recently suffered a tragic loss, the passing of her older brother, so I know that this time is extra special to her. A close family member also told me recently that they are expecting a child. I can only smile. In the midst of everything going on in my world, in this world, there is life springing up all around me. Life.
